Hi Amber Isn't it funny that all the fish are looking at the man in his house, as normally it's the other way around. We are normally looking at them! Why did you choose this picture?
What else is happening in that picture Amber? What else is in the tank that the fish are looking at? You have made a great start but maybe you could go back and have another look at what else you can see.
Kia ora Amber, Well done on doing such a fantastic job with your writing! Describing everything you can see in an image can be quite tricky, however you have been extremely observant and managed to describe some of the awesome features shown in the image. In this image, some of the aspects you described were the orange and blue fish, the small house and fence inside the fish tank, and the rock in which the tank is sitting on. It would be awesome to see some similes and/or metaphors in your writing! A simile is when you compare one thing to being like another. The words ‘as’ or ‘like’ are used for similes. Here are some examples of similes using the image you have provided: ‘The fish were as orange as the sun’ ‘The fish were blue like the ocean’ A metaphor is when you say one thing is another thing. The words ‘is’ or ‘was’ are used for metaphors. Here are some examples of metaphors, again using the image provided in your post: ‘The fence was as small as a mouse’ ‘The house is a tall mountain on the side of the tank’ What is one example of both a simile and metaphor that you could say about this image? It would be awesome if you could reply to this comment and let me know! You have done an excellent job, keep up the great effort! Nga mihi
Kia ora Amber, Well done for having a go at creating some similes and metaphors for your writing! I am very impressed with the sentences you came up with, and think that you should be exceedingly proud of yourself as well! The simile example you provided in your comment was: ‘I like watching the fish swim as fast as a plane’ This is fantastic as it really helps me imagine how fast these fish are going. They aren’t moving slowly like turtles or snails would, they are zooming through the ocean as fast as planes zoom through the sky! The metaphor example you provided was: ‘The fence is next to the house’ I see how I may have misguided you on this one, but I am more than happy to clarify my mistake. A metaphor is when you say an object is or was another thing. Examples of metaphors include- The snow is a white blanket Repunzel’s long hair was a flowing golden river Saying ‘the fence is next to the house’ is almost there, just not quite. You have described where the house is, but you haven’t described the house itself. Perhaps you could reply to this comment again with a new metaphor! It would be awesome to see what you come up with! Keep up the amazing effort, you’re doing great! Nga mihi
Hi Amber. It is great to read your blog and see that you have new learning posted. How many things can you see in the photo altogether? What do you think it would feel like living in a fish tank? I wonder what the hardest thing to do would be? How do you think the fish tank got under the sea?
Good writin Amber, do you think the fish like the new house?
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris yes i think the fish love there new house.
